Favor for Life!

Have you ever needed a door to open for you? How about an opportunity to come your way? Have you ever wanted a bill reduced? Or peace with a co-worker? If so, you’ve needed FAVOR!

The Word of God says that God gives us favor and “…His favor is for life….” (Psalm 30:5) This is an exciting verse of Scripture and good news you should quickly embrace and celebrate! To know that God’s favor is towards you for your entire life is reassuring. You don’t have to be concerned about falling out of favor with God. Even if you make a mistake, sin or do something you know you’re not supposed to do, God still favors you!

God’s Favor Is Necessary

Why do we need God’s favor? We need God’s favor because we live in a fallen world that is negative and nasty. There are a lot of evil and contrary things that are at work in the earth. The favor of God keeps us from being beat down and burdened. The favor of God keeps us on top in every circumstance and causes God’s blessings to flow into our lives.

What God’s Favor Will Do For You

God favor rules and will make you a ruler in life. We see this kind of favor all over Joseph. It first started with his father Jacob. The Bibles says that he loved Joseph and did special things for him. One of the special things he did for Joseph was make him a “coat of many colors.” This was a long robe with various patterns and colors in them that a person would wear at that time in society. It showed Joseph his father’s great love for him. The interesting thing is that Jacob is the one who made this coat of many colors for him. Not his sons, not his servants, but himself. What does this tidbit of information show us? It shows us that real blessing and favor comes from the heart, is intimate and warm. Did you know that God has warm feelings towards you? Did you know that God loves you and is passionate about making life good for you? If you didn’t know, now you know!

Despite setbacks and some negative circumstances, the favor of God was at work in Joseph’s life. The Scripture says, “The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man…” (Genesis 39:2) This is a key revelation to continued progress even when there may have been a bad break or raw deal. You have to know and believe that the Lord is with you and He is doing something about your situation. You have to have the mindset that you are covered with favor and nothing will be able to keep you from being successful. Favor makes you superior to setbacks and negative circumstances. Doors of opportunity will open that would not have been opened. People will do things for you that they would not normally do. Positions will open that are supposed to be closed. Bad breaks turn into blessings. This is the work of favor!

Favor Has the Last Say

In Joseph’s case, when he was sold into slavery, he ended up becoming the house manager for Potiphar. After being falsely accused of attempted rape by Potiphar’s wife, he was sent to prison. Once he got there, he was put in charge of all the prisoners. Favor was still at work. Two years later, he was standing before the Pharaoh of Egypt interpreting his dreams and suddenly he was promoted to prime minister of Egypt. And think of this: He was a Hebrew, a foreigner to the Egyptian people. Yet, he was now the second in command in the whole land. How did this OUTLANDISH PROMOTION happen so quickly? One word: FAVOR!

God’s favor really is for life and will follow you everywhere you go. Take advantage of it. Embrace it. Celebrate it. Receive it. Walk in it. Like Joseph, you will forget your misery and remember it as waters that have passed away, and your life will always shine brightly!
