Believe That You Receive
Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. (Mark 11:24)
Faith is released through words and faith is released when you pray in faith. Here Jesus is talking about the prayer of faith. This is the prayer you pray to receive things from God. The Bible says that if ask we would receive the things we asked for. But we have to ask in faith.
Believing you received the things you asked for when you prayed is a key to answered prayer. Many believers are frustrated with their prayer life because they have not believed that they received what they ask for when they prayed. They believe they receive what they ask for when they see it. However, this is not how the prayer of faith works. It has its own rules and regulations that it operates in.
Here how it works:
Decide what you want.
Ask for what you want.
Believe that you receive what you want.
You will have what you want.
The rule to the prayer of faith is to believe you’ve got what you asked for when you prayed. The word “receive” in this verse is from the Greek word lambano and it literally means “to take.” It also means “accept, catch, have, hold, and obtain.” So, really you must believe you take and already have what you asked for when you pray. Notice it didn’t say “after you see it” or “when it comes to pass.” It says “when you pray.” This is the actual moment you are to believe you have obtained what you asked for. This reminds me of 1 John 5:14-15:
14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
This is an incredible passage of Scripture. You and I can have confidence when we pray and petition the Lord. We can be assured that He hears when we pray according to His will. Once He hears what we ask, the Bible says, “…we know that we have…” Do you believe that you have? Do you believe that what you ask for has been granted the moment you asked? Are you walking in this kind of assurance? You can, if you only believe that you receive.
I remember when I first started working the Word in my life and exercising my faith, I decided I was going to practice Mark 11:24 on purpose. I told the Lord that I didn’t need what I was going to ask Him for. I told Him that I just wanted to see this Scripture come to pass in my life. So, based on Mark 11:24, I claimed $25 and I believed that I received it. I just began to thank God everyday for the $25. Within a week, my sister’s Godfather came to visit us and as soon as I opened the door, he said, “Maurice, here.” I said, “What is this?” He said, in effect, “Just take the money.” It was $25. I never asked him for the money. I never told anyone that I believed God for the money. He just had a desire to give me $25. I knew it was in answer to the prayer of faith I prayed a week ago.
Whether it’s $25, a car, a house, an article of clothing, a job opening, a spouse, etc. Whatever it is, believe that you receive it and you will have it. It’s just that simple.
