We Are People Of Advancement
Do you feel stuck sometimes? Do you ever ask yourself, “Why am I not further along in life?” Well, you’re not alone. I think most of us have felt stagnant in life and have questioned our progress at one time or another. The good news is you don’t have to stay stuck or feel bad about your lack of achievement. I’m giving you 3 keys to help you move forward and be all that God created you to be. Here they are:
1. ACKNOWLEDGE the good that you see about yourself. In Psalm 139:14, David said, “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” King David was a man who did not have low self-esteem and practiced self-love. How? By acknowledging the good that he saw about himself. He knew that he messed up and made mistakes, but he didn’t let his failures and mistakes keep him from acknowledging that he was fearfully and wonderfully made. As sons and daughters of the prophet David, we must do the same thing. We must acknowledge the good that we see about ourselves and not let our failures or mistakes keep us from seeing ourselves as God sees us. Advancement starts with acknowledgment. Dare to declare who you are in Christ Jesus. Declare that you are complete in Christ. Declare that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Proclaim that you are the righteousness of God in Him. These declarations and proclamations will POWER UP your life and SET YOU UP for GREAT ACHIEVEMENT!
2. Be AMBITIOUS! What does it mean to be ambitious? Ambitious can be defined as “having or showing a strong desire and determination to succeed.” What is that goal or dream that motivates you? What drives you on the inside? A lot of times we are more aware of what we don’t have ambition for than what we have ambition for. Let’s change that around. Let’s be more aware of what we desire and are eager for than what we don’t like. This will cause swift advancement in our purpose-filled lives. People are born with ambition. They are born with a passion to achieve something great. This is part of being created by God in His image and likeness. However, this world system tries to stamp ambition out of you and keep you from releasing your potential and achieving great things. Who is the culprit behind this world system and evil containment? No one, but Satan himself. He is jealous of you and hates human ambition. It releases the “God-Factor” in you. It reminds him of who you are and what he’s not! So, be ambitious! Achieve as much as you can. The Bible gives only one warning concerning ambition. It warns against selfish-ambition. In other words, don’t let all of your achievement just be about you. Advance and help others advance. Achieve and help others achieve. Be blessed and help others to be blessed. This is ambition with love as it’s running partner. Jesus said, “By this shall all men know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35)
3. Use your ABILITY. There is no advancement without ability. The good news is all of us were born with some abilities and yet we are free to acquire other abilities. For example, you were born with the ability to talk, but you were not born with the knowledge of the English language. That was an acquired skill. We see this concept played out in the life of David. In 1 Samuel 17:50 it says, “So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him…” David advanced in killing Goliath, a seeming undefeatable foe to the people of Israel, because of his ability to use a sling and a stone. This is not an ability he was born with, but an ability he acquired as a shepherd boy tending his father’s sheep. This tells me something: don’t be discouraged when you’re in obscurity. Use that time to develop your ability and the time will come for you to bring forth that ability. Then you will arise and shine. Then you will bring out your God-colors in the world and glorify your Father in heaven. (see Matthew 5:16)
