Sacrificial Giving

"41 Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts. 42 Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins. 43 Jesus called his disciples to him and said, I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. 44For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.” - Mark 12:41-44 (NLT)

Today, I want to talk you about sacrificial giving. Why? Jesus wants you to give sacrificially. What is sacrificial giving? It's a type of giving that is considered a great cost to “you.” It’s not based on the amount we tell you to give and there is no amount suggested in the Bible. Only you and the Father know if it's a sacrifice. An example of sacrificial giving is found in Acts 4:34-45 “There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need.”

Why would the Lord ask this of us at this time? He wants us to come up higher in trusting Him. He wants us to come to a new place of worship and expectation. The truth is, you can’t expect anything if you haven’t given anything. We normally don’t like to do things last minute. We are similar and all of us like to know when things are being done ahead of time. However, the Lord wants to shake things up. He is ready to be spontaneous in blessing us. However, He needs us to be spontaneous with Him in our giving.

I want to emphasize to you that your offering is not for a service project. Your giving is not because we need to pay the operational expenses and we're behind. Rather, your giving is for you and your relationship with the Father. When you give sacrificially, your trust in God is shown.

Abraham was given the same instruction when it came to his son, Isaac. He was to sacrifice his only son, his greatest prize to the Father. Abraham obeyed, ready to sacrifice his son. However, the Father stopped him at the point of sacrifice. He revealed to Abraham that He was only testing him. Because he obeyed, this is what the Lord said,

"15 Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, 16 and said: 'By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son— 17 blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.'" - Genesis 22:15-18

Winners, are your ready for things to be different? Do you desire more? If the answer is yes, I encourage you to obey this prophetic instruction, trust the Lord and expect. You will begin to see the extraordinary. I close this email by blessing you: Your life is getting better and better. Greatness is your portion. You will only see increase in your life. Your trust in God is growing. The peace of God is covering you and you will continue to see the glory of God in your life.
