With a word from the Lord and a dream in his heart, Pastor Maurice Johnson founded Liberty Christian Center (now known as Winners Church) on September 10, 1995.  Although he started out in the small living room of his basement apartment with zero members, Pastor Maurice preached faithfully to the “chairs”.  Within a few weeks, people started to come and the church began to grow.

By the next year, it was time to move.  So, in 1996 Pastor Maurice took a leap of faith, and moved Liberty Christian Center from his basement apartment to a storefront in the same vicinity.  Despite the challenges that came along the way, the church stood on a firm foundation and continued to grow.

As more and more people came, it quickly became apparent that another move was needed.  So, once more, the church moved, this time outside of Hollis, Queens and into our current location of Laurelton, Queens.  The church continued to develop here and after much reflective thought, Pastor Maurice decided to rename the church “Winners Church”.  Today, Winners Church is a growing ministry whose mission is “to set at liberty those who are captive through the teaching of God’s Word and the demonstration of His Sprit.”

At Winners Church you will never hear bad news, only good news.   Though in this world there are challenges that we all face, the good news is you can overcome.  There is power and victory in Jesus.  You will learn how to use what God gave you, live out whom He made you, and do everything He empowered you to do.

You can expect a friendly environment surrounded by sincere people who have a heart and hunger for God.  You will enjoy lively contemporary praise and worship and a relevant message that will empower you to live out the greatness that is inside of you.

We are a young church that provides a loving and relaxed environment where you are sure to be impacted by good teaching from the word of God.  Also, there is genuine fellowship among the members.  This is largely due to the Life Groups.  Life Groups are small fellowships centered on Bible studies.  They take place throughout the week in various homes. We believe that even as a church grows, the fellowship of its members should grow as well.  Life Groups help ensure that no one ever feels just like a number.

1. We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. The Bible is God’s word to man so that we would learn about Him and learn how to walk in His ways. (2 Timothy 3:15-17)

2. We believe God is one, manifested as three divine persons — Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:26-27, 1 John 5:7)

3. We believe in the creation of man, his fall, and his redemption. Man was created in the image and likeness of God. However, by willful disobedience, man fell and his only hope of rescue is in Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:12-19, John 14:6, Acts 4:12)

4. We believe in water baptism. It is a command of our Lord Jesus Christ to all who are believers. In doing this, we symbolically identify with Christ, declaring to the world that we are Christians. (Mark 16:15-16)

5. We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. It is the plan of God for every believer to be baptized with the Holy Spirit. This was the normal experience in the early church. This experience is necessary to be an effective witness for the Lord Jesus Christ. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is evident by the speaking of tongues as the Spirit gives the power to speak. (Luke 24:49, Acts 1:4-8, Acts 2:4)

6. We believe in divine healing and health. God wants our bodies free from sickness and free from diseases. Therefore, by the power of God, healing and health is provided for every believer. (Exodus 15:26, Exodus 23:25-26, Matthew 8:17, 1 Peter 2:24)

7. We believe in prosperity. It is God’s desire to see His children not only healthy, but also financially prosperous. It was and is God’s full intention from the beginning for the church to rule by their wealth. Jesus was not only our substitute for sin and sickness, but also for financial poverty and insufficiency. Financial prosperity is a new covenant blessing that every believer can have today. (Genesis 2:12, 2 Corinthians 8:9, 3 John 1:2)

8. We believe in the Rapture of the Church and the Appearing of Christ. Jesus is coming again to gather all of His saints to forever be with Him. (1 Corinthians 15:51, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)

The World9. We believe in the millennial reign of Jesus Christ. This is the return of our Lord Jesus Christ with His saints from heaven to rule and reign for 1,000 years on earth. And after that, there shall be a new heaven and a new earth. (2 Thessalonians 1:7, Revelation 19:11-16, 20:1-7, 21:1.)

10. We believe in the Lake of Fire. Those who have rejected Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord will suffer eternal separation from God. The devil, his angels, the beast, the false prophet and everyone whose name is not found in the Book of Life will be assigned to everlasting punishment in the Lake of Fire. This is the second and eternal death. (Revelation 19:20, 20:10-15)
