It’s no secret that many people shred their important documents as a form of securing their identity from scammers. Scammers love to steal your identity by using your social security number, your credit card number and even your name to live in a lie. This is what we call a thief, right? Therefore, we usually take proper precautions to prevent this from happening.

In the same way, Satan is an identity thief who wants to steal your life and future. He will do it by any means necessary. He’s the father of lies and he will tell you all kinds of lies to mess with your identity. You must take spiritual precautions to keep your your identity safe, secure and protected in Christ:

1. Learn who you are in Christ. The way to stand strong against Satan is to learn who God is and who you are in Christ! You are royal and lacking nothing! Walk in your royal priesthood with confidence. His thoughts are your thoughts. You are hearing from God and He’s giving you wisdom and direction. You have the heart of God, loving others, being kind and comforting. You are creative and constantly have fresh new ideas. When God created you, He created a masterpiece. He made no mistakes. Without a doubt, you are fearfully and wonderfully made!

2. Stop thinking about your past. If you believe that God is for you and has forgiven you, you must also forgive yourself. Don’t allow yourself to be a prisoner of your past. Receive the finished work of Christ. Read Romans 6:5-9. It will remind you that your old self has died on the cross. Sin has no place in your life. You have been co-crucified, co-buried and co-risen with Christ. You’re no longer under the law, but under the grace of God. Jesus has set you free!

Once you said yes to Jesus, you were washed completely clean. There’s no left over residue. You’ve been fully restored to God’s original plan and purpose for your life. A new creation indeed! Look at what 2 Corinthians 5:17 says,

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

You are made new! This means the old you no longer exists. You have been crucified with Christ. Your sins, depressions, anxiety and negative thoughts died on the cross with Christ. Satan wants to remind you of your past, so you can’t move forward! His tricks are so old and predictable. Walk, skip, or run into God’s purpose for your life. Even if you stumble, get back up and keep moving! Don’t look back!
