Hello, Winners! Two weeks ago Pastor Maurice wrote an article titled, “What Has God Called You To Do?” In it, we were encouraged to find our “why” and began living it out. I personally loved the email because I have always been a seeker of God’s assignment for my life. Having discovered it by the Holy Spirit, I have experienced great rewards and success. Now that we have read Pastor Maurice’s email and discovered our “why,” it’s time for us to talk about our “next.” Below are three things I believe should be our next steps.
1. Accept the assignment. In the book of 1 Samuel, the prophet Samuel came to the home of Jesse, David’s father, and anointed David to be king. After David was anointed, the Bible says, “The Spirit of God came upon David from that day forward.” Signifying that David accepted the call and the assignment from God. Like David, now that we know our assignment, our next step is to accept it by faith. This will cause God’s anointing to come upon our lives to empower us. God is ready to help and guide every step of the way. Like a loving Father, He wants us to win at doing His will. Say this, “Father I believe you have called me to this __________. I fully accept the responsibilities that come with it. Help me to succeed.”
2. Go with the flow of favor. After David accepts his assignment and is anointed, he’s given the opportunity to serve King Saul directly. This reminds me of Psalm 37:23 where it reads, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” Once we accept our assignments, God’s favor brings us into opportunities. David himself could not have secured that position of being an armor bearer to King Saul. However, the favor of God helped him get into the hard places. Like David, God is giving us opportunities at work, in our businesses or ministries. No matter our assignment, God is helping us to get connected to the right people and position us in the right place.
3. Stayed connected to the heart of God. “…I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.” (Acts 13:22) This scripture is one of the reasons David was successful in accomplishing his God given assignment. Likewise, we cannot fulfill our assignment without knowing the heart of God. As a friend of Jesus, we have the privilege of knowing what He desires for us. Staying in continuing communication through worship, prayer and the word will give us greater insight to what He has planned for us. It’s not enough to know what we are called to do. We, also, need to know the next steps. My prayer is that we will get more understanding of what to do next.
<<First Name>>, 2021 is going to be an amazing year for us. I look forward to hearing more testimonies. I’m looking forward to celebrating more victories. May God give us more grace to stay the course and finish the race.
