It’s true! Jesus is looking for your faith. He wants to see your trust and complete confidence in Him. Today, He’s asking you the same question He asked His disciples 2,000 years ago, “Where is your faith?” (Luke 8:25)
Unfortunately, many sons and daughters of God have buried their faith in the grave of unbelief. They are cynical and doubtful of the promises of God. They are more conscious of their circumstances than their Savior.
Confronting Fear and Unbelief
This was the case with Jesus’ disciples on their journey to the other side of the lake. He said to them, “Let us crossover the the other side of the lake.” While they were on their journey, a windstorm came down on the lake and caused their boat to be filled with water. They got afraid and ran to Jesus who was sleeping. They cried out, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. The Bible says the windstorm stopped and there was a great calm.
But the story doesn’t end there. He confronts His disciples’ fear and unbelief. He asks them, “Where is your faith?” The gospel of Mark records Him saying, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” Jesus expected a different response from them in this situation. He was counting on them to deal with the windstorm in faith. They did not.
Overcome By Faith
Let’s be honest. How the disciples responded is how a lot of us would have reacted. Nevertheless, we have an opportunity to learn from this story. What can we learn? No matter what you are facing, deal with it by faith. Show the Lord that you have total confidence in Him and USE your faith to overcome every obstacle you may face. Don’t let fear and unbelief keep you from getting ahead. You have too much to gain. So, the next time Jesus asks you, “Where is your faith?” You’ll say with calm delight, “It’s right here in You, Lord.”
