I Favor You

After a few days of asking the Lord, “What are You saying to Your people this Friday?” I heard back: “I favor You. I have always favored you and I will always favor You.” These are the words of the Father to you. His favor towards you is real, radical and practical. Let’s look at some things that the favor of God produces:

1. The favor of God directs His attention towards you.
If it wasn’t for God’s favor, He wouldn’t pay you attention. You would be on His “disregard” list. Because of His omniscience, He would know who you are, but it wouldn’t benefit you. Isn’t it true that there are people who have parents that don’t consider them or pay them any attention? Some have even abandoned their children. That’s because they don’t favor them. We call those children “orphans.” Jesus told His disciples, “I will not leave you orphans...” (John 14:18) Why? Because He loved and favored them. God called the nation of Israel “the apple of His eye” because He loved and favored them.

Today, He promises not to leave you or forsake you. He calls you the apple of His eye because He loves and favors you. To be the apple of God’s eye is to be His priority and preference. You literally are the most important thing to Him. Isn’t that good news? Isn’t this a simple, yet profound revelation? May it make you bolder in your prayer life. May it cause you to dream bigger dreams than you’ve ever dreamed before. May you feel more secure than ever before.

2. The favor God gave birth to your identity.
On December 14 at 6:54am, I woke up from my sleep with this revelation from the Holy Spirit: Your identity in Christ is favor-born. This means everything you are is because of God’s favor. The Apostle established this New Covenant truth when he said, “But by the grace of God I am what I am…” (1 Cor. 15:10). In context, he was talking about his apostleship in the body of Christ. However, it applies to all things. How do we know that? We know that because the same apostle Paul said, “For by grace you have been saved through faith...” (Ephesians 2:9). So, he further established that your foremost identity of being saved is by God’s favor. Now you get to say I am what I am by the grace of God.

3. The favor of God will “knock your socks off.”
“Knock your socks off” is an idiom from the mid-1900s that means to “amaze or impress someone in a very strong and favorable way.” This is what Jesus did over and over again. He constantly released the favor of God through forgiveness, deliverance from the demonic, healings, miracles, supernatural provision and verbal blessings.

Do you remember how He knocked Peter’s socks off when He told him to launch out into the deep and let down his nets for a catch of fish? The Bible says, “For he and all who were with him were ASTONISHED at the catch of fish which they had taken” (Luke 5:9). Another translation says, “For he was AWESTRUCK...” Have you ever been awestruck by the Lord? If you take time to think about it, I’m sure you will find one or more times the Lord amazed you.

I encourage you to live in constant expectation of God’s favor and watch your life become loaded with crazy blessings.
