Movin’ On Up

I’m dating myself, but do you remember the famous hit tv series from the 70’s called the Jeffersons? Do you remember their theme song. “Movin’ On Up?” If you do, great. If you don’t, here’s the lyrics:

Well we're movin' on up
To the east side
To a deluxe apartment in the sky
Movin' on up
To the east side
We finally got a piece of the pie
Fish don't fry in the kitchen
Beans don't burn on the grill
Took a whole lotta tryin'
Just to get up that hill
Now we're up in the big leagues
Gettin' our turn at bat
As long as we live, it's you and me baby
There ain't nothin' wrong with that
Well we're movin' on up
To the east side
To a deluxe apartment in the sky
Movin' on up
To the east side
We finally got a piece of the pie

You may not be movin’ on up to the the East Side to a deluxe apt in the sky, but I prophesy that you are movin’ on up in every way. You’re going higher and higher. Your whole life is ascending. Things are getting better and better for you.

Higher Level
You’re going to be like Joseph who went from the pit to the palace. In spite of treacherous acts done against him and lies told on him, he kept movin’ on up! Imagine being like Esther who went from being an orphan girl to the Queen of Persia in a very short period of time. These were some major leaps forward! How about David who went from the back dessert of his father’s house to being the king of Israel? This is what it means to live a life movin’ on up.

You may ask, “What does this mean for me?” It means everything. The Bible says these stories were written for our examples. So, you can literally put your trust in God’s grace to bring you out of every dilemma you may be facing. You can trust the favor of God to take you further and farther than you’ve ever gone before.

From Small to Great
I’m thinking of Ruth who was a young pagan widow and ended up marrying a rich Jewish man named Boaz. But that’s just part of the story. She was the great grandmother of King David. Thereby, entering the genealogy of Jesus Christ. Isn’t that amazing? I prophesy, like Ruth, you will go from little to much and from small to great significance. You’re not moving to a lower place. You’re moving to a higher place in Jesus’ name. Amen.
