Overcoming the Venom of Self-Doubt

One of the most deadliest snakes in the world, is the King Cobra. It is equipped with a venom that can paralyze and eventually kill you within minutes. The good news is, you won’t find any slithering here in NYC or the US, except at the Bronx Zoo. But do you know what is as dangerous as the venom of a King Cobra? The answer is self-doubt. It has the power to paralyze you and lead to the death of your dreams and goals.

One of the places we see self-doubt in the Bible is with the story of Moses. He is at the age of 80 years old when he has an encounter with God. Moses was told by God that he is the one that is chosen to lead His people out of slavery and into a new land to start a nation. However, Moses doubted himself. He argued for his limitations by saying, "I am not eloquent...I am slow of speech." Have you ever told yourself, you're not ready, it's too hard or you can't do it? These statements are a form of self-doubt.

Interestingly, God never agreed with Moses and instead told Moses "I will certainly be with you...I will be with your mouth." God was telling Moses, rely on My presence and you’ll succeed. In other words, take your eyes of yourself, your preconceived limitations and focus on My presence being with you. If you look at the story of Moses found in Exodus, Moses was only required to deliver a message. All the supernatural occurrences that helped free the children of Israel were done by the presence of God.

God’s Presence is the Key

The greatest key to your success is God’s presence. He’s with you to help you win and succeed. Your responsibility is to remember that God’s presence is with you and have faith in His presence to help you. In addition, memorize this promise found in Hebrews 13:5, "For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you."

The Father has an assignment for you. One of the worst things you can do is doubt yourself. Self-doubt only paralyzes and causes you to miss the plan of God for your life. I want to encourage you by saying this: "God has chosen you." He knows what you are capable of and knows you're the right person for the job. See the value of yourself. Remember the gifts and potential He gave you and have faith that His presence is with you to achieve great things.
