Dream Thieves - Pt. 2
It’s a fact of life that dreams really do come true. Every year, scores of people reach their goals and fulfill their dreams. You can be one of those people. But first, you’ll have to deal with…
Dream Thief #2: Laziness
The truth is, nobody wants to be called lazy. It’s not a desirable characteristic to be labeled by. However, if we’re honest, we’ve all been lazy sometime or another in our lives.
Let’s define laziness so that we’re all on the same page. When one is lazy, he or she is “unwilling to work or use energy.” It also means, “slow moving.” Obviously, there are various degrees of laziness. Nevertheless, we want no part of laziness. Here’s why: it will block you from getting what you want in life. King Solomon said it this way, “The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing…” (Proverbs 13:4).
Do you want to be that person who has dreams that never come to pass? Or desires that are never fulfilled? I don’t think you do. So, here’s a few tools you can use to overcome laziness:
1. Keep your end goal in mind.
The Bible says that Jesus endured the cross and despised the shame because He kept His end goal in mind. As you continue on your journey of dream fulfillment, you’re going to have to endure some things to get to the other side of your dreams. Broken focus usually leads to broken dreams. So, keep your eyes on the prize.
2. Get out of bed and pray for grace.
As soon as you get up, give thanks to God and ask Him to give you the grace to have a productive day. Jesus said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9) So, if you have a tendency to get sluggish or distracted during the day, His grace will empower you to accomplish what you need to accomplish.
3. Don’t make excuses.
The book of Proverbs teaches us that lazy people make excuses. Check out this scripture:
The lazy man says, “There is a lion outside! I shall be slain in the streets!” -Proverbs 22:13
Don’t let excuses keep you from getting ahead and fulfilling your dreams. Now is the time to rise up, go outside and live your dream!
