Speak Life!
It’s 10:44pm Thursday night and I’m sitting in McCarren Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn watching a soccer game. I just left an Italian restaurant and remembered I hadn’t wrote my email for today. So, I asked the Lord, “What are you saying to Your people this Friday?” A question I frequently ask the Lord before I write or preach. As I sit here, I just heard on the inside of me, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue….” I know that’s the first stanza of Proverbs 18:21. Evidently, your words are on the mind of the Father. He’s reminding you today to use the power of your tongue to speak life to your life.
Your words are spiritual containers and they carry great power. They determine whether you experience good or bad in your everyday life. They determine whether you’re winning or losing. I encourage you to speak life. Jesus left us an example to follow and He said, “…THE WORDS that I SPEAK to you are spirit, and they are LIFE” (John 6:63).
“Your words are building blocks of which you construct your life and future. Your words set the cornerstones of your life, and you live within the confines of that boundary you create with your own words.” - Charles Capps
5 Great Examples
I’m going to give you five great examples of those who spoke right words and got positive results. Let’s take a quick look:
1. The woman with the issue of blood spoke life and her 12 years of bondage came to an end.
2. David spoke life and he defeated the military giant Goliath that came against and intimidated the armies of Israel.
3. The prodigal son spoke life and was restored back to his father and status as a son in his father’s house.
4. The three Hebrew boys spoke life and they were delivered from the fiery furnace.
5. The apostle Paul spoke life and all those who were with him were delivered from eminent death on the sea.
The above are five great examples that you can always look to as reminders to always speak life. Will you be among those in the hall of faith who will be known for speaking life to your life and the life of others? Will you receive the victory that belongs to you and resist the temptation to be negative? Will you speak wholesome words over your life, mind, body, money and mood? Will you keep the enemy at bay in your family, workplace and business affairs by releasing positive words instead of negative words?
2023 is your year of momentum and your words will determine if you’re moving forward or backwards. So, keep advancing by the grace of God and the power of your tongue.
