Live Your Power!
If you’re like most people, you want power in some form or another. This means you want some level of control in your life. You want the ability to do and accomplish things. Guess what? God wants that for you, too. So, He gave you a gift. Let’s see what gift He gave you:
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, BUT OF POWER and of love and of a sound mind. - 2 Timothy 1:7
According to the apostle Paul, the gift God has given you is a spirit of power. He has given you control, authority and the ability to make things happen. In truth, you’re not lacking in personal power. You just have to release it!
Stir Up Your Gift
What’s amazing is that Paul gives the secret to living your power in the previous verse. Look at what he says:
“Therefore I remind you to STIR UP THE GIFT OF GOD which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” - 2 Timothy 1:6
The secret to living your power is stirring up God’s gift within you and putting it to use. The gift of God within in you is the thing you can do with ease. It’s the thing that you don’t have to work hard to release. It’s what brings you pleasure when you do it. In his book, “You Owe You,” motivational speaker Eric Thomas makes this statement:
“This is what a superpower feels like. You have something inside of you that is big and powerful and delicate at the same time, and when you activate it, it’s like watching Simon Biles do a floor routine or listening to one of Mozart’s symphonies, or witnessing Russel Westbrook rebound twenty times in a row or seeing Roger Federer make a backhand slice. It’s pure poetry.”
Your gift makes you capable and compelling. Dynamic and dominant. Believe it or not, this world needs your gift. This world needs your presence. Isn’t it time to show up and give them what you got?
The Secret to Power
Here’s another secret to living your power: Stop trying to fix yourself and be yourself. If you’re constantly “working on yourself” you can’t possibly live in the fullness of your power. Why? Because more than likely you’re preoccupied with your shortcomings and not manifesting your gift. Here’s something to consider: People don’t care who’ve you been, just who you are now and what you’re doing now.
As you continue your journey into 2023, let living your power be a major focus of yours. If you do, I promise you won’t regret it.
You’ll end this year with a smile on your face and a heart full of pure joy.
