I woke up early Saturday morning on June 13th to use the bathroom. I felt a little groggy, and I said something to the Lord. Then I felt Jesus say to me, “Put a smile on your face.”
Immediately, the thought came: “There’s a lot to smile about.”
Jesus wants you and me to put a smile on our faces. Why? Because there’s a lot to smile about!
Now, don’t get me wrong. There’s a lot to frown about too—but we’re not plugging into that. We’ve been called to plug into and represent the positive.
The devil wants you to believe that you don’t have a lot to smile about, but you do! He’s a liar and the father of lies. So, don’t give one second of your time or attention to anything he says or to any negative, depressing emotion he tries to impose on you.
You have a lot to smile about, and you will always have a lot to smile about!
What our Father has done is so much greater than anything Satan has ever done—or will ever do. Honestly, he’s the biggest loser in all of creation! And because he’s a loser, he wants you to think and feel like you’re a loser too.
But here’s the truth:
YOU’RE NOT A LOSER. YOU’RE A WINNER!
YOU ARE GOD’S MASTERPIECE!
You are His offspring. You are, as The Message Bible says, “the God-created.” Not only that, you’ve been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and your name is written in Heaven!
Chile, you better praise your God and give Him the glory! You ought to be celebrating this every single day!
And here’s how you do it:
1. Resist and rebuke negative thoughts.
Resist and rebuke any negative thought that tries to lodge itself in your mind.
Think POSITIVE THOUGHTS!
Don’t entertain negative thoughts and suggestions. This will help keep you in a winning headspace. As Joyce Meyer said in her book Battlefield of the Mind, “You cannot have a positive life and a negative mind.”
Your mind needs something positive to feed on. Think about God’s goodness. Think about His promises. Think about what’s working. Think about where you’re going. Think about the victories you’ve already experienced.
Don’t let one negative thought rent space in your mind for free!
2. Give thanks for everything that has gone right and is going right in your life.
Take some time to rehearse ALL THE GOOD that has happened to you and all the good that is happening in your life right now.
Think about the prayers God has answered. Think about the doors He has opened. Think about what He has protected you from. Think about the people He has placed in your life. Think about the victories you almost forgot about!
When you start rehearsing the goodness of God, you’ll discover that you have more reasons to smile than you realized.
This will cause your heart to be filled with faith, hope, and love toward your Heavenly Father. This is why the apostle Paul said:
“Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:20 NKJV).
Instead of rehearsing everything that went wrong, start rehearsing everything that went right!
3. Smile on purpose.
Smile when you wake up. Smile throughout the day. Make your face do its duty!
I’m not talking about being fake. I’m talking about letting your face reflect the joy that’s already in your spirit!
You’ve been redeemed. You’re forgiven. You’re loved. You belong to God. Your future is bright.
So, put a smile on your face! Not because everything is perfect, but because your challenges don’t get the final word.
God does.
So today, resist the negative. Rehearse the good. Smile on purpose.
You’ve got Jesus.
You’ve got eternal life.
You’ve got the promises of God.
You’ve got a future.
You’ve got hope.
My friend, YOU’VE GOT A LOT TO SMILE ABOUT!
