The Mercy Group

The Mercy Group

Several nights ago I had dream where I found myself in a law firm. My objective was to hire an attorney who could help me have a lien in my name forgiven and to have money owed to me expedited. I was speaking to one of their lawyers. But I knew in the dream I needed to speak with the managing partner who is also known as the senior attorney. I knew he would be able to help me. Eventually, I met the senior partner of this firm. He took my case and said, “I know what to do with you. We’re going to put you in the mercy group.” Then I woke up from my dream. As I laid in bed, I immediately knew the interpretation of the dream, that is, ask Jesus for mercy to help you.

Moses had an unusual encounter with the Father. In this experience, Moses received from God tablets that contained some of His laws. At the same time, the Father announced His name to Moses saying, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin…” (Exodus 34:6-7). In this scripture, God was revealing to Moses the very thing He needed to lead the children of Israel, the Father’s mercy. If you study the work of Moses, you'll find later he used what he learned to deliver the children of Israel, read Numbers 13 and 14.

Merciful in the above verse comes from the Hebrew word, “rahum” and it means full of compassion. According to our English dictionary, mercy also means an act of kindness, compassion or favor. The Lord is showing you that His compassion, kindness and favor is towards you. He wants you to know that He is here to help you like He was present to help the children of Israel in their conquest of the land. He wants you to understand this, mercy is not just about God forgiving you. Mercy is also about God favoring and choosing you. Giving you momentum, wisdom and everything necessary for your advancement.

Paul said it well, “So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy” (Romans 9:16). He also mentioned how the grace of God was at work in His life, “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me” (1 Corinthians 15:10). That same mercy and grace is at work in your life for you to continue with momentum. That same grace is at work in your life empowering you to move like a lion. That same grace is at work in your life to make you successful in all that you handle.

I want to leave you with this scripture, it’s the one Pastor Maurice told us to memorize some time ago, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16 NKJV).
