Clarity is one of the greatest secrets to great and lasting success. You’ve got to know what you want, why you want it, and what you’re going to do about it.
That kind of clarity creates passion, focus, and momentum. When you’re clear about where you’re going, you become difficult to distract and almost impossible to stop!
A Driving Force
Clarity is power. It is a driving force behind achievement. Clarity can take you from where you are to where you want to be at a rapid pace.
Clarity of purpose was a driving force in the life of Jesus. Our Savior was very clear about His purpose on earth. He knew why He was here, what He was called to do, and where He was going.
Notice what He said:
• “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.” — Luke 4:43
• “Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour.” — John 12:27
Then look at what John said about Him:
• “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” — 1 John 3:8
Jesus was not—I repeat, was not—all over the place! He had a clear focus, stayed with His assignment, and accomplished the Father’s will in a relatively short period of time.
<<First Name>> , here are three keys to walking in clarity like Jesus:
A — Ask Questions.
During his supernatural encounter with Jesus, Paul aimed for clarity. He asked:
“Lord, what do You want me to do?”
What a simple yet powerful question!
Lord, what do You want me to do?
That question can change the trajectory of your entire life. Instead of wandering, guessing, or simply doing what everyone else is doing, ask God for clarity. His direction will put you on the path of destiny.
Never be afraid to ask God questions. Clarity often begins with the right question.
I — Incorporate Structure and Strategy.
Do you have structure and strategy in your life?
You can have a dream without a strategy, but you’ll probably never see that dream become reality. Purpose tells you where you’re going; strategy helps you get there.
Structure gives your purpose somewhere to live. Strategy gives your purpose a plan of action.
When you begin organizing your time, priorities, relationships, and resources around your God-given assignment, you stop merely being busy and start becoming productive.
Don’t just have a vision. Build your life around the vision!
M — Mind Your Own Business.
Yes, I said it!
Broken focus will always cost you success.
Focus on what Jesus told YOU to do instead of becoming preoccupied with what He told somebody else to do.
There was an occasion when Jesus was talking to Peter about Peter’s future and how his life would ultimately glorify God. Peter turned around, saw John following them, and asked Jesus:
“But Lord, what about this man?”
Jesus gave Peter a clarion response:
“What is that to you? You follow Me.” — John 21:21–22
In other words: Peter, mind your own business!
What Jesus has assigned someone else to do is between them and Jesus. Your responsibility is to stay focused on what He told YOU to do.
Stop comparing.
Stop competing.
Stop looking over your shoulder.
You follow Jesus.
Mic drop!
At the end of the day, whether you’re a pastor or a plumber, a hematologist or a homemaker, following Jesus is what matters.
Living out your God-given purpose is what counts—both in this life and in the life to come.
So don’t live distracted.
Don’t live confused.
Don’t live all over the place.

A.I.M. for clarity!
